New in 2019:
Motor Activated Retiring Cam on the Swing Door E1 Lift

An exciting new development that removes swing door lock noise and improves overall reliability. Also adds the swing door electronic security lock function – a commonly requested security feature (no doubt the industry will eventually follow this too).

Old Way – a lift unlocked the landing door when it arrived at floor:

A fixed metal cam that is attached to the cabin strikes the door lock opening arm when the lift arrives at floor zone. This makes a small noise and can cause lift tuning complications. Demo lifts are often two levels, so it’s less obvious.

New Way:

The cam is no longer fixed but rather motor activated, to move into position. The motor pulls the cam away (“retires”) from the lock when travelling and then releases to open the lock/door under the control of the computer operating system.

This eliminates two potential problems entirely (noise/reliability).
It also means that the door can be locked and linked to the security system if desired.
