Smart 50 defy the downturn and hire 900 staff in 2009
The resilience of Australia's SME community has been highlighted by the announcement of the Smart50 Awards, sponsored by Westpac.
In a year in which the economy was rocked by numerous corporate collapses and many sectors battled sales, the companies on the Smart50 (Lift Shop position No.34) produced average growth of 91%. That's even better that last year's average growth rate of 61%.

Lift Shop at exclusive architectural Exhibition
DesignEx Melbourne 2009Once again Lift Shop exhibited on the main aisle for Design Ex which is the premier exhibition in Australia for Architecture and Design. It was a pleasure to meet with again with some of our clients and referrers. Staff from our Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney offices were all there, and it was the usual fun to all be at the same place for a change.
This year we
- Showed some new features and styling possibilities to our Italian custom lifts
- Demonstrated the 87% energy savings benefits of our new technology Supermec Traction drive (compared to the older hydraulic systems)
- Introduced a 1m x 1m Classic Freedom lift which is designed for affordability and incorporates classic minimalist white and glass styling.
We observed a big shift in clients requirements towards value, and so our entire wide range was well received. As it allows clients to carefully select what they want.
We also observed a smaller attendance and much smaller stand set ups of the other exhibitors which is of course a reflection of the difficulties they have in today’s economic environment.
