Lifts require a lift shaft or structure in which to run.

Concrete, brick or block shafts are usually built into the building as part of the construction process. They are preferred by customers who want the lift to “blend in". They usually require a bigger total outside shaft footprint due to the thickness of the concrete walls and may be slightly cheaper in a new building situation. Remember "total project cost"

When you place the lift in a concrete shaft, then it is recommended that you paint and render the inside of the shaft on the door opening wall. It is a requirement that this wall be smooth and flat.

Where an elegant and impressive or observation effect is required, it is common for the lift shafts to be purchased in addition to the lift. The aluminium shafts have a smaller outside footprint. Aluminium and glass shafts are extremely popular where a functional light well is also desired.

The FREEDOMLIFT shafts look sensational, they are designed to impress our most discerning customers. We recommend you finish the aluminium with a paint effect as this allows a consistent finish which is not possible with a natural product. Should you prefer, then natural anodised is always an option. There is no extra cost for finish effects.

The structural components finishes are found in the profiles section of finishes.

The CLADDING or SHAFT WALL PANELS can be in either glass or 9mm laminated plywood. The finishes options for the cladding is found in the panels section of the finishes options.
